Nebraska to Face No. 15 Utah in SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl
The SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl will feature No. 15 Utah (10-2/7-2) facing Nebraska (7-5/4-5) on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Allegiant Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. PT (3:30 p.m. ET) on ESPN.
A frequent visitor to Las Vegas, the Utes of the Big 12 Conference will play in the city for the 17th time, counting regular-season and postseason games, and serve as the home team while the Cornhuskers of the Big Ten Conference will appear in the Silver State for the first time and serve as the away team. The Utes bring a 4-2 record in the Las Vegas Bowl, which ties them with Boise State for the most wins in the game’s history.
Nebraska and Utah have met four times, with the Huskers having taken all four games in the series, which started in 1968 and has all taken place in Lincoln. The most recent meeting came in 1992.
Las Vegas Bowl XXXIV will just be the third edition that takes place post-Christmas and the first on New Year’s Eve.
“This year’s matchup is special not just because it’s a historic date for us on New Year’s Eve, but also because two storied programs get to line up against each other for the first time in 33 years,” said SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl executive director John Saccenti. “Highly ranked Utah is tied as the winningest Las Vegas Bowl team and the Ute fanbase has shown it can fill up Allegiant Stadium. On the other side, having an amazing Big Ten storied brand in Nebraska come to town for the first time ever will add even more excitement to our famous bowl week in the Sports and Entertainment Capital of the World.”
Tickets, which start at $70 (plus fees), are available by visiting www.lvbowl.com. The Las Vegas Bowl is one of 17 bowl games owned and operated by ESPN Events, a division of ESPN.
Last year’s game saw USC outduel Texas A&M, 35-31, on December 27 in the fourth SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl played at Allegiant Stadium.
