The Salvation Army, Zappos For Good and Allegiant Stadium Join Forces to Distribute Thanksgiving Food Boxes to Local Families in Need

The Salvation Army Southern Nevada partnered with Zappos for Good, the charitable arm of Zappos.com, Allegiant Stadium, and our generous community – which donated turkeys, side dishes, fresh produce, and non-perishable items – to provide holiday food boxes for families in our community still experiencing daily challenges that threaten their wellbeing.

The Gobble for Good drive-thru distribution event took place on Monday, November 22 at Allegiant Stadium. Families were able to enjoy snacks and entertainment while they waited safely in their cars. This event supported 1,000 families and provided over 13,000 pounds of turkey.

The pandemic has caused an exponential growth in need in our community the past 18 months.

“More than ever, it’s important for families to maintain traditions that bring them together. Some of life’s most cherished memories are made when families share a meal, and we want as many local families as possible to have that this Thanksgiving,” said Captain Anthony Barnes, The Salvation Army Clark County Coordinator. “We are grateful for our generous partners in Zappos and Allegiant Stadium that are joining us to provide for this wonderful community.”

“Maintaining the longstanding tradition of helping families share a meal and celebrate the holiday together with our partners at Salvation Army is more than a passion project – it’s essential to the community which we’re fortunate to call home,” said Tyler Williams, Director of Brand Experience, Zappos.com. “This year, we’re excited to also work alongside the Allegiant Stadium team as they bring an amazing new space for families to experience.

“It is essential for Allegiant Stadium to partner with longstanding organizations within the Las Vegas community like Zappos and Salvation Army to support initiatives that have a direct and positive impact to Las Vegas families” said Neumiia Duncan-Reed, Director of Human Resources and Community Affairs. “We appreciate the exciting opportunity to create memorable experiences that exemplify the true spirit of the holiday season.”
